About John Valentin

Playing Career
John Valentin attended Seton Hall University where he played baseball along with Mo Vaughn and Hall of Famer Craig Biggio. John was drafted to the Sox in the 1988 draft and made his MLB debut four years later in 1992.

John batted .281 over 10 seasons in Boston his best ones coming between 1995-1997 where he batted .300. with 58 homers (19/season average) and 238 RBI’s (79/season average). The real highlight of his career though was in 1994 when he turned the 10th unassisted triple play in MLB history.

Coaching Career
John spent eight seasons in the Dodger organization and three as assistant hitting coach…was previously the hitting coach for Triple-A Albuquerque (2011-12) and Double-A Chattanooga (2010)… managed Double-A Chattanooga (2009) and Class A Inland Empire (2008), guiding the Lookouts to a 65-74 record in 2009 and leading Class A Inland Empire to the playoffs with a Wild Card berth and a 68-73 record in 2008…began his coaching career in 2006 as the hitting coach of the Mets’ Double-A Binghamton team.
